I would like to thank anyone who came along to our event last weekend all about extrasolar planets, I hope you enjoyed it and found it greatly interesting.
I would also like to take this opportunity to announce an upcoming Tea, Talk and Telescope lecture by Professor Mike Cruise of the University of Birmingham.
“Small Problems with the Universe – is Physics letting us down?”
The Universe is being explored with increasingly sophisticated instruments and techniques and yet there still remain fundamental questions about the laws of Physics that govern its existence and evolution. This talk will discuss our present view of the Universe and the areas of Physics that are causing uncertainty and how these may be investigated.
The talk will start at 7:30pm, with tea and coffee available from 7:00pm, and will take place in the Large Lecture theatre in the Poynting Physics building (room S02 in the building R13 on the University map). If the weather is agreeable we may follow the talk with some sky viewing with the Society’s equipment.
For more information about this and future events please feel free to visit our webpage at www.talkandtelescope.org.uk.
Kind Regards and we hope to see you there!
On behalf of the University of Birmingham Astronomical Society and the School of Physics and Astronomy
